DHARAMSHALA: The Congress government had to face opposition over Food Security Bill (FSB) on the third day of winter session as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday staged a walkout, shouting slogans against the food & civil supplies minister for the 'faulty' food distribution system in the state.
Terming FSB a political gimmick, they raised objection over the central bill and demanded that it should have been brought to the House for discussion before applying it in the state. The opposition leaders stated that people in the state were not getting proper supply of food commodities like sugar, mustard oil and cereals through ration depots. They claimed that the minister failed to give a satisfactory reply, which prompted them to stage a walkout.
The discussion was called under Rule 130 by Mahinder Singh Thakur, BJP legislature from Dharampur. Opposition member Govind Thakur stated that the public distribution system had turned into a public disturbance system while Sarveen Choudhary stated that FSB was a political gimmick. Replying to the allegations, F&CS minister G S Bali stated that Congress schemes benefited people of all segments.
Leader of opposition P K Dhumal stated that the irrelevant answers of the Congress leaders irked them as they were not addressing actual problems being faced by the people of the state.
